What changed, and why (as JobsBoard explains it)
- Headline now leads with Go, Python, Kubernetes and distributed data pipelines, so a six-second scan hits the posting's core keywords instead of a generic title.
- The summary now ends with the 3 TB partitioning result (5 hours to 40 minutes), because data at scale is what this team screens for.
- Each role opens with the result closest to this job: the Go latency win at LedgerLoop, the 3 TB partitioning work at Parcelnet.
- The migration bullet uses the posting's word "microservices", because the resume records 30 services moving off a monolith, without adding any scope.
- Skills regrouped with Python, Go and SQL first; TypeScript (basic) dropped as noise for this role.
Notice what didn't change: every job title, date and number is the candidate's own. Nothing was invented.
The cover letter
Dear NVIDIA team,
The Senior Data Backend Engineer role calls for someone who can design microservices and distributed pipelines that keep enormous datasets fast to work with. That has been the shape of my last eight years: Go and Python services and the data systems behind them, including a shipment tracking API at Parcelnet that serves 12 million requests a day.
At LedgerLoop I rebuilt the payment settlement service in Go, taking p99 latency from 900 ms to 140 ms at 4,000 requests per second. I also led four engineers migrating 30 services from a monolith to Kubernetes on AWS (EKS), and introduced event-driven reconciliation over Kafka that cut failed settlements by 62%. That combination of workflow orchestration, resilience and throughput across a service fleet is close to the work the posting lists under streaming, workflow orchestration and data management.
At Parcelnet, a nightly report over a 3 TB PostgreSQL table took five hours. I designed the partitioning that brought it to 40 minutes. Five hours of waiting is time an AI developer does not spend curating or training, and making a table of that size quick to search is the same problem the posting names in video data curation and dataset management, at AV scale.
What draws me to this team is that problem: video data curation, behavioral search and dataset management for autonomous vehicle developers. My experience is on the serving and pipeline side of these systems, and it would feed a team whose output is model training. RAPIDS is new to me; the last tool I brought in was OpenTelemetry tracing, added across 14 services at Parcelnet.
Would you be open to a conversation about the team's work? Thank you for your time.
Best regards, Daniel Okafor
The honest part: what the resume doesn't show
JobsBoard never adds experience you don't have. It tells you what's missing so you can decide.
- The posting names Hive, Parquet, Helm and Milvus, none of which appear on the resume. If you've used any of them, even in a side project, add them to Skills.
- No big data engine (Spark, Hive) or ETL framework is named. If you've used Spark anywhere, add it, and describe the Kafka reconciliation work as an ETL pipeline in the cover letter.
- Data mining and AI development are must-haves and don't appear. Add any analytics, model-training or dataset work, including personal projects.
